In early November, we highlighted five exciting fellowships to apply to. As we begin the new year, architecture schools continue to search for motivated designers, researchers, and emerging academics to apply to their upcoming fellowship opportunities.
To kick off 2024, we highlight four fellowships featured on the Archinect Job Board.
The University of Toronto offers the Emerging Architect Fellowship Award
Location: Toronto, ON
Details: "The John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto, invites applications for a two-year Emerging Architect Fellowship Award in areas of architectural research and design, with particular focus on topics that address issues of climate and the built environment. This Fellowship Award will be a non-tenure appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2024, or shortly thereafter, and end on June 30, 2026." Kent State University offers the Schidlowski Emerging Faculty Fellowship
Location: Kent, OH
Details: "The College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) at Kent State University invites applications and nominations for the annual Schidlowski Emerging Faculty Fellowship starting Fall 2024. This nine-month residency is designed to engage promising junior faculty candidates in a dynamic and progressive academic environment at the outset of an architecture faculty career. In addition to a competitive teaching salary for the 2024-25 academic year, the fellowship provides a separate fund to support the production of an original design research project to be exhibited and presented as part of the college lecture series during the Spring 2025 semester." Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) offers Fellowship Positions Location: Cambridge, MA
Details: "The Department of Architecture is committed to supporting innovative visions for the future of architecture, with Fellowships playing a central role in this mission. Our fellowships are specifically designed to nurture emerging research agendas in architecture by providing support to individuals at key moments in their creative and academic trajectory. The department is seeking at least one and potentially two fellows to commence in September 2024. Fellows will join the faculty on a one-year appointment, with the possibility of extension to three years following a review in the spring of their first year." Learn more here.

The University of Texas at Austin offers an Emerging Scholar in Design Fellowship
Location: Austin, TX
Details: "The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture invites applications and nominations for its 2024–26 Emerging Scholar in Design. The prestigious two-year fellowship offers promising individuals at the beginning of their academic careers in architecture and its allied fields the opportunity to develop a distinctive body of work and provides a unique teaching experience in the context of a supportive academic environment. The school is seeking a candidate that is highly motivated and positioned to integrate their scholarly trajectory with their pedagogical agenda. Intersectional research and work that is both technologically rigorous and justice-centered is especially encouraged." Learn more here.
