As architecture schools everywhere prepare for end-of-year reviews, final exhibitions, and commencement ceremonies, below is a selection of upcoming events from a few of our Archinect Partner Schools.
Celebrating Asian & Pacific Islander Design
Date: Thursday, May 18, 6–8 pm
Details: "Join A Rising Tide, and AAPI Design Alliance for an event during NYCxDESIGN to celebrate Asian and Pacific Islanders in design. Hosted by the Pratt Institute School of Architecture, this event, timed to coincide with Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, will feature short presentations by emerging API design firms and a networking hour for interior designers, architects, makers, and landscape architects. Students as Researchers: Creative Practice and University Education
Date: Opening: Thursday, May 18, 9–10 am; Exhibition: May 20–November 26
Details: "New York Institute of Technology, School of Architecture and Design is pleased to invite you to the opening of Students as Researchers: Creative Practice and University Education hosting the Knowledge Transfer Virtual Exhibitions. Home, Sweet Home
Date: Friday, May 19, 4–6 pm
Details: "Home, Sweet Home is a group exhibition in May 2023 that collects work from a special-topics seminar taught by Tulane Architecture and Social Innovation Fellow Emmanuel Osorno, and a design-research project led by Tulane Architecture and Urbanism Fellow, Omar Ali and Visiting Assistant Professor, Nimet Anwar. The exhibit will have an opening on Friday, May 19, from 4pm to 6pm, at the Albert and Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design, 1725 Barrone Street. The opening is open to the public. UCLA AUD Spring 2023 IDEAS Talent Fair
Date: Friday, May 19, 2–8 pm
Details: "An opportunity for this year's IDEAS/MSAUD cohort to showcase their recent projects for interested visitors, with recent studio work on display, MSAUD students presenting it, and portfolios and resumes available for download. The event features an open exhibition of MSAUD student work from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, and a Happy Hour(s) celebration from 4:00 to 8:00 pm." Read more here.
UCLA AUD Spring Lecture: Andrés Jaque
Date: Friday, May 26, 6:30–7:30 PM
Details: "Andrés Jaque founded the Office for Political Innovation in 2003. He has brought a transectional approach to architectural design; practicing architecture as the intervention on complex composites of relationships, where its agency is negotiated with the agency unfold by other entities." Dana Cuff Presents "Architecture of Spatial Justice"
Date: Thursday, June 1, 6pm
Details: "Join us to celebrate AUD Professor Dana Cuff and her latest book, Architectures of Spatial Justice -- a field-defining work that demonstrates how architects are breaking with professional conventions to advance spatial justice and design more equitable buildings and cities."
