Following last week’s look at an opening for an Assistant Professor of XR Technologies at Arizona State University, we are using this week’s edition of our Job Highlights series to explore open roles at Selldorf Architects.
Over on Archinect Jobs, the 70-person architectural design practice is currently advertising for two roles in their New York City office. For their Project Manager position, the firm seeks a “senior professional architect responsible for delivering projects on time and on budget while maintaining design excellence and maximizing profitability and efficiency.” Meanwhile, their Interior Designer role calls for an individual responsible for “sourcing, ordering, creating digital images, generating proposals, purchase orders, specifications, and invoices, ensuring client presentations are properly prepared and executed, and more.”
Why the role interests us
Coinciding with International Women’s Day, the open roles at Selldorf Architects offer the opportunity to showcase one of the most celebrated female-owned firms in the U.S. architecture profession. Founded by German architect Annabelle Selldorf in New York City in 1988, the firm has grown into a major 70-person-strong studio offering architecture design, interior design, exhibition design, master planning, landscape architecture, and strategic planning.
Recent projects by the firm to appear in our editorial include the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the expanded Sainsbury Wing. Last year, Selldorf also gave The New York Times a tour of the firm’s recently-completed Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego following its reopening after an extensive renovation.
Born and raised in Germany, Selldorf received her Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and her Master of Architecture from Syracuse University in Florence, Italy. Beyond her day-to-day leadership of the firm, Selldorf serves on the Board of the Architectural League of New York, the World Monuments Fund, the Chinati Foundation, and the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College.
Among Selldorf’s personal accolades are the 2016 Medal of Honor from AIA New York, a fellowship of the AIA, and the Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, of which she is a member. In the firm’s management, Selldorf is also supported by a five-strong team of partners, three of whom are female: Sara Lopergolo, Julie Hausch-Fen, and Lisa Green.

Selldorf Architects does not list a salary for the Interior Designer position.
Isn't that against the rules?
They list the salary within the text of the job ad.
