The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced that its second annual Inclusion Festival will take the form of a dedicated radio station that will be broadcast live from the bookshop at RIBA’s headquarters in London.
RIBA Radio will run from November 18 through the 26th and will be hosted by former BBC journalist and RIBA’s Director of Inclusion and Diversity, Marsha Ramroop. The show will focus on promoting diversity and inclusion within the field of architecture. Content will include a mixture of music, live and pre-recorded interviews, discussions, and debates, featuring guests from across the worlds of architecture, design, arts, culture, and sport, as well as key leaders from the worlds of EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion).
Guests will include architects Adam Furman, Chris Hildrey, Farshid Moussavi, Clare Nash, Sumita Singha OBE, Head of School and CEO of the London School of Architecture Dr. Neal Shasore, architectural historian Josh Mardell, Bristol Mayor Marvin Rees, and more.
“Last November, the RIBA launched the Inclusion Charter, inviting members and practices to commit to actions to drive forward inclusion and diversity within the profession,” said Ramroop. “This year, we're using RIBA Radio as the platform to support that commitment with information, guidance, best practice and insight, through 28 hours of live radio. I am excited to combine my two areas of expertise — broadcast journalism and EDI — to bring RIBA Radio to life and broaden the reach of these important conversations.”
Over the seven-day period, the daily live broadcast will run each day from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (GMT). Repeats will be available afterward from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and for an hour after that, a feature called My Soundtrack will occur. This hour-long segment will be hosted by a different guest presenter each day who will share personal stories relating to the themes of diversity and inclusion, coupled with their choice of music.
RIBA Radio will be accessible through a link that will be sent to those who register to the Eventbrite. Further information on the program, including the schedule and a curated list of architecture books written or edited by RIBA Radio guests, can also be accessed here.
