Fall is upon us and as the school term is well underway architecture schools continue to roll out their Fall 2021 lecture series. Continuing with Archinect's coverage of lecture programs we feature presentations from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.

The school will present 17 virtual and in-person events as part of its fall public lecture series. On September 20, Marcelo Spina and Constance Vale spoke with Robert McCarter, the Ruth and Norman Moore Professor of Architecture, about the book Mute Icons & Other Dichotomies of the Real in Architecture (2021), authored by Spina and Georgia Huljich and edited by Vale.
On September 27 the school hosted a panel discussion focused on the memorial to Enslaved Laborers at the University of Virginia, featuring the following design team members: Eric Höweler and J. Meejin Yoon of Höweler + Yoon; esteemed designer, academic, and cultural historian Mabel O. Wilson; mediator and facilitator Frank Dukes of UVA’s Institute for Engagement and Negotation; Gregg Bleam of Gregg Bleam Landscape Architect; and artist Eto Otitigbe.
During the month of October, the school welcomes presentations from designers artists Richie Pope, Stephanie Syjuco, and Taryn Simon. On October 21 architect Kenneth Frampton will present. Ruth and Norman Moore Visiting Professor of Architecture Carlos Jiménez will present on October 26 and a panel discussion will take place on October 22, focused on the book Designing the Modern City: Urbanism Since 1850 by Eric Mumford, the Rebecca and John Voyles Professor of Architecture.
In November and December presentations from architect Ken Tadashi Oshima will take place on November 4 followed by a discussion from urban planner Chelina Odbert on November 12. and talk from artist Cole Lu on November 17. On November 2 a panel discussion will take place focusing on "Colonizing the Past: Constructing Race in Ancient Greece and Rome."
