The Vatican has announced that it will be participating in this year's Venice Architecture Biennale. They have previously had a presence at the International Exhibition of Art of the Biennale di Venezia, but it will be the first time ever the city-sized country has had a pavilion at architecture's version of the event
Overseen by the Italian curator and architecture historian Francesco Dal Co, the pavilion will involve 10 chapels, each one designed by an architect from a different country. In the spirit of Catholic generosity, the chapels are also to be relocated to places in need of spaces of worship after the biennale is over.
The ten architects building chapels are as follows:
Non Sequitur's valid critique of organized religion above notwithstanding....there are some great names on this list and this: "the chapels are also to be relocated to places in need of spaces of worship after the biennale is over" is lovely.

Will these chapels adresses the rampant abuse history of this terrible institution? Generosity? not a chance.
Silly fools and their sky daddy fantasies.
belonging to a club helps your wallet
I'm part of Pearl Jam's 10 Club... it helps lighten my wallet.
but you get those tickets a day before the scalpers
Indeed... a few days actually plus it's the only way to get GA and lower bowl seating.
That's really hateful, Non Sequitur.
Really Erik? How is my membership to Pearl Jam's 10club hateful? Certainly you can't support an institution who routinely, and consistently abstains from responsibility via it's unlimited horrendous crimes? If you support the church, you're part of the problem.
I'm a Catholic. I support the teachings of the church. I do not support the horrific child abuse, and I do not support the efforts by many of the leadership of the church to cover it up.
What's hateful is that you just dismissed millions of people as silly fools with sky daddy fantasies.
Are you ready to ask people to walk away from Islam because of 9/11? Or to ask people to walk away from Judaism because of the occupation of Palestine?
All 3 groups believe very silly and intellectually poor things. Believe what you want, but you’re directly supporting a terrible institution regardless of what you tell yourself. Also, yes, you’re a fool for believe in invisible bearded sky faeries.
Nice.
Well, what do you think, Donna? Do you support this commentary as "valid critique of organized religion"?

I agree Donna... just wished someone would do the right thing and either refuse the project... or turn it into something worthy of discussion instead of ass-kissing a morally corrupted institution.
Was so looking forward to an Atelier Van Lieshout chapel for the Vatican, with Paul McCarthy statues obviously. Maybe next Biennale...
