Wow - In anticipation of the future need to build a memorial to America's war in Iraq, the National Iraq War Memorial Council created the National Iraq War Memorial Foundation to commemorate those Americans who gave their lives in this conflict. - Competition website
James sums it up pretty well in his blog entry.

they want to get this built in front of the White House?
with so few site left in dc for memorials....they should book the site well in advance.
and since we are likely to be there say 10 years, why not build the memorial while 'w' is still in office[or perhaps for the king in waiting, jeb] so he can view and enjoy it daily before he heads back to crawford.
I can't find much of anything on the National Iraq War Memorial Council and the URL is owned by some Chris Nimmo in Pittsburgh, PA. Sounds like a joke or a pipe-dream to me.
the email i got said it was just a loose collaboration of artists, architects, designers, and cartoonists. I don't think its an offical organization of any sort.
at least not yet...

I got the email as well and have dismissed it as spam for the time being.
Interesting how there wasn't a press release in lieu of a bulk email.
