ChiDesign CADE winners reinvent the learning spaces of the future
As learning environments become more open and communally oriented, the Chicago Architecture Foundation launched the first ChiDesign ideas competition to explore possible models for future educational facilities. Five top-winning designs were selected at the end of the competition.
Zaha Hadid’s Wangjing SOHO wins Emporis Skyscraper Award
The towering trio of skyscrapers that make up the Wangjing SOHO complex by Zaha Hadid Architects won first place for the Emporis Skyscraper Award competition. The project is the first project in China to win the prestigious award.
Santiago Calatrava to receive the 2015 European Prize for Architecture next month
Not long after his iconic Turning Torso won the CTBUH 10-Year Award, Santiago Calatrava was recently named the 2015 laureate for the European Prize for Architecture, one of the continent's highest architecture accolades.
Burntwood School by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris wins 2015 RIBA Stirling Prize
Last week, RIBA announced the Burntwood School in Wandsworth London by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM). Selected out of six shortlisters, AHMM is winning the prize for the first time.
Niall McLaughlin Architects’ Fishing Hut wins the 2015 Stephen Lawrence Prize
On the same night the Stirling Prize winner was announced, RIBA also revealed the Fishing Hut by Niall McLaughlin Architects as the recipient of the 2015 Stephen Lawrence Prize. The prize recognizes projects built with a construction budget of less than £1 million.
