REX’s Joshua Prince-Ramus wins 2015 Marcus Prize
The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee's School of Architecture and Urban Planning announced Joshua Prince-Ramus, the founder and president of REX, as the recipient of the 2015 Marcus Prize. In addition to the $100,000 cash prize, Prince-Ramus will collaboratively lead a graduate design studio at SARUP.
The 2015 Fuller Challenge announces six finalists
The Buckminster Fuller Challenge competition pool is down to the final six projects. From over 400 entries, the finalists will move on to the rigorous deliberation phase, from which the final winner is selected to win $100,000 toward the implementation of their proposal.
Curry Stone Design Prize goes to Rural Urban Framework for revitalizing China’s shrinking villages
Joshua Bolchover and John Lin of Hong Kong-based nonprofit firm Rural Urban Framework (RUF) were officially announced as the 2015 Curry Stone Design Prize winners at the Chicago Architecture Biennial opening this past Saturday. RUF received the prestigious prize not only for its design work, but also its mission, research, and positive social impact on the local population.
“A Folly for London” winners get snarky with London’s proposed Garden Bridge
London-based artist Will Jennings created the free-for-all "Folly for London" competition as a satirical form of protest against the controversial Garden Bridge. The entries reflected the increasing public disapproval of Bridge, and participants also expressed similar concerns in their own cities.
The “Dear Architecture” Honorable Mention letters
More letters from Blank Space's "Dear Architecture" competition! Similar to the winning letters, the Honorable Mentions confronted Architecture with a slap of reality, with several of the letters conveying feelings of disconnection with the field.
2015 Finlandia Prize awarded to the Puukuokka residential high-rise
The second annual Finlandia Prize went to the Puukuokka high-rise residential building, designed by OOPEAA Office for Peripheral Architecture. The prize recognizes Finnish architectural excellence from within the last three years.
