The winning EIRA Lounge designs for Portugal’s Bons Sons music fest
For Portugal's Bons Sons music fest coming up this August, entrants had to design a sustainably built lounge space called the EIRA LOUNGE for festival-goers to meet up, socialize, and relax during the event. The winning proposal by Orlando Gilberto Castro and Tiago Ascensão (shown above) will be realized.
NZIA Canterbury Architecture awardees signify Christchurch’s endurance in post-quake rebuilding
The rebuilding efforts following the Canterbury earthquakes had a strong presence in the New Zealand Institute of Architects' 2015 Canterbury Architecture Awards, which highlights some of the Canterbury region's best architecture over the past year. SANAA wins Art Gallery of NSW expansion in Sydney
The Art Gallery of New South Wales selected Pritzker Prize laureates Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of SANAA in an international competition to design the gallery's expansion. Other competing teams included Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Kengo Kuma & Associates, David Chipperfield, and Herzog de Meuron.
Porsche Design selects winning proposal for Frankfurt Tower
Luxury brand Porsche Design announced Grüntuch Ernst Planungsgesellschaft to design the new swanky residential tower in Frankfurt. Interestingly enough, the jury selected all German firms to receive the top four prizes at the end of the closed anonymous competition.
2015 Cavin Traveling Fellowship awarded to U. of Oregon alumnus
University of Oregon alumnus Alex Zelaya won $12,000 for the 2015 Cavin Traveling Fellowship out of five finalists. This year's brief had entrants propose an architectural and/or landscape intervention around the Hellyer Velodrome in downtown San Jose, California.
Winners of the 2015 AIA TAP Innovation Awards
The AIA and TAP (Technology in Architectural Practice) Knowledge Community announced three winning projects and an honorable mention in their annual Innovation Awards, which recognize top-notch design, project delivery, and building management through new advanced processes and technologies.
