In Screen/Print #26: an interview with Jessica Walsh, currently half of design firm Sagmeister & Walsh, was excerpted, from the 2nd issue of Intern Magazine (devoted to "intern culture" in the creative industries).
Darkman was confused "Strange choice to interview the most hated designer in the world for Intern magazine...She almost brags about not paying interns...Reads like PR I've already read". Similarly Mr_Wiggin wrote "seems, to me, diametric to the message Intern Magazine should be publishing".
Malaysia-born Melbourne-based sculptor Daniel Dorall spoke with Archinect for the latest installment of Working out of the Box. He finished up his Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Melbourne in 2005, as he explains that now
"In a nutshell, I make miniature objects out of cardboard – it usually takes the form of the maze...creating walk through maze-installations". midlander felt the work was "Fantastic! Witty and meticulous".

Anthony Morey attended Acadia Conference of 2014. Day 1 - included talk on combinatorics, generative process and "Digital Architecture". Day 2 - was focused on "Materiality and Fabrication" and "the Analog". Day 3 - was about "Temporal and Data Agency" and he closed with a quote from Neil Leach.
Later Anthony Morey put it all together. Chris Teeter liked Teng Teng's project from third day, it "is awesome".
Kean University announced the formation of the Michael Graves School of Architecture. Reacting to the emphasis on hand drawing EKE lamented "I have to constantly tell my staff to get away from the keyboard and draw...because of the Mind-Hand-Paper conduit".
In a new report, the Alliance for a New Penn Station proposes Madison Square Garden be relocated to the nearby Morgan Post Office and Annex.
Orhan Ayyüce argued "it makes sense for those condo developers to do the deed in the name of a new station, mixed use etc... high line will neatly terminate there opening the area for further billionaire row. that is the dark side (no pun to darkman:) of hi line development behind all that festive tourist activity"
Justine Testado wondered What do you think of the Guggenheim Helsinki Stage One entries? Although the general consensus was underwhelmed, threadkilla initially found a few noteworthy. Yet, after some digging concluded "look at this as an opportunity to assess directions in representational strategies/techniques more so than anything else...one more thing to note - I read a few of the descriptions, and I think doing so hurt my perception of the projects".

Lian Chikako Chang recapped Christopher Hawthorne recent talk at UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design. During the QA, Hawthorne had this to say about the current state of architectural scene in LA
"I think there's been an interior turn in LA, and I think there needs to be a more rigorous conversation about what that means, and I don't think architecture schools are doing that".
The intern currently blogging for social design lab Studio Roosegaarde wrote about Smart Highways. A project by designer Daan Roosegaarde and Heijmans Infrastructure, which has been realized at N329 in Oss (NL). Donna Sink believed the concept "is a smart idea, certainly in very rural areas where lighting infrastructure is more expensive".
Grundfos Dormitory in Aarhus, Denmark by CEBRA & NIRAS and Skanska USA Building in Parsippany, NJ by Ted Moudis Associates are just two of the projects found in the post Ten Top Images on Archinect's "Color" Pinterest Board.

Artorias couldn’t understand Sverre Fehn’s Nordic Pavillion, "why do the beams not snap? Especially when the beam is cut short and there's a tree in the middle of it, should the beams not snap? Why doesn't it? I don't understand the construction of this space"? Gregory Walker answered "there's a grid of beams...hose fins are thick enough to get some welded wire mesh reinforcing in there - if they're tied together as a grid overall...it's not really carrying any weight beyond itself".
cshahar needs some help figuring out What makes a building alive or dead? to mightyaa it is simple, "I'd say it's ability to illicit a emotional response out of someone interacting with the space...I know there are a ton of neuroscience type studies out there that are interesting about how the human mind interprets their surroundings and the links towards emotions". While jw468 suggested reading "a chapter in Bachelard's Poetics of Space you might find helpful entitled ‘The House, From Cellar to Garret..."
Larchinect had a question about Copyrighting design work? Specifically, "how air tight are these types of contracts typically with regard to copyright of another firms creative work?" gwharton offered up some solid advice for the future "I've received contracts with copyright transfer clauses in them before. I just cross that part out and initial the change, and rarely get any blowback for doing so...don't make that mistake again". Olaf Design Ninja_ added "agree with Miles here, its too late. Let it be and move on".
