Li Xiaodong’s Liyuan Library wins inaugural Moriyama RAIC International Prize
The Liyuan Library by architect Li Xiaodong won the first CAD$100,000 Moriyama RAIC International Prize in Toronto, which was launched by The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Foundation and distinguished Canadian architect Raymond Moriyama. Winners of the LEAF Awards 2014
Every year, the LEAF International highlights projects that are perceived as setting the standard for the international architecture and design community in various categories. From 40 shortlisted projects, this year's overall winner was One Central Park in Sydney, Australia by Ateliers Jean Nouvel + PTW Architects.
Maya Lin wins the 21st Annual $300K Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize
Iconic artist, designer, and environmentalist Maya Lin won the 21st Annual Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize. The prize is regarded as one of the most prestigious honors bestowed to U.S. artists and has one of the largest cash awards, with this year's prize valued at US$300,000.

The international competition invites architects, designers, writers, engineers, illustrators, students to pen their very own architectural narrative.
Steven Holl receives Praemium Imperiale International Arts medal for architecture
Japan's Prince Hitachi, honorary patron of the Japan Art Association, formally presented the Praemium Imperiale medal for architecture to Steven Holl. The prestigious Praemium Imperiale recognizes lifetime achievement in the arts in categories that aren't covered by the Nobel Prize.
OMA and OLIN Studio to design new 11th Street Bridge Park in D.C.
OMA and OLIN Studio's "Anacostia Crossing" is the winning proposal for the 11th Street Bridge Park in Washington D.C. The nationwide competition was held as part of the 11th Street Bridge Park project initiative, which will transform an old freeway bridge into D.C.'s first elevated park.
Haworth Tompkins’ Everyman Theatre wins the RIBA Stirling Prize 2014
Out of six UK shortlisters including Zaha Hadid Architects, O'Donnell + Tuomey, and the Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Haworth Tompkins architects won the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize 2014 for the UK's best new building of the year. Haworth Tompkins spent nine years transforming the rundown historic Everyman Theatre in Liverpool into the building it is today.
The 2014 winners of the Manser Medal and Stephen Lawrence Prize
Following RIBA's announcement of the 2014 Stirling Prize winner, The Stormy Castle in Wales by Loyn & Co. Architects and House No 7 in Scotland by Denizen Works each won two big RIBA awards, the Manser Medal and the Stephen Lawrence Prize.
OSPA’s winning UFCSPA sports campus proposal in Canoas, Brazil
Brazil-based practice OSPA Architecture and Urbanism recently won first-place in the National Public Architectural Competition for a new sports campus in Canoas, Brazil for the UFCSPA (Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre).
