2014 Berkeley-Rupp Prize awarded to Sheila Kennedy of KVA MATx
Sheila Kennedy — a principal of KVA MATx and the first woman to hold the title of Professor of the Practice of Architecture at MIT’s School of Architecture & Planning — is the second recipient of the Berkeley-Rupp Prize. Given every two years by the UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design (CED), the prize awards a distinguished design practitioner or academic who has made valuable contributions to advancing gender equity in the architecture profession.
World War I International Memorial at Notre-Dame-de-Lorette to be inaugurated in November
Designed by architect Philippe Prost -- who had the winning proposal in an international competition, the International Memorial at Notre-Dame-de-Lorette in France will be officially inaugurated on November 11. The inauguration will take place during the centenary commemoration of the tragic events in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region during World War I.
UNStudio reveals latest designs for the new Doha Metro Network in Qatar
Recent politics in Qatar haven't detered UNStudio in revealing their latest designs for the Qatar Integrated Railway Project's Doha Metro Network. UNStudio, who was appointed by Qatar Rail, describes the new Metro Network as an effort to motivate more Doha locals to use public transit.
FORA announced as official winner to redesign Bulgaria’s Plovdiv Central Square
Portuguese architects FORA had the official winning proposal to redevelop and revive the historic central square in Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second largest city. After the jury narrowed down the competition from 125 to 3 finalist proposals, the public also got to discuss and vote for their favorite design to be implemented.
