Small, Green, Affordable
"american studio for progressive architecture"
are you kidding me?!? is this the fox news equivalent of architecture?
btw, some decent entries. despite how much i can't stand LEED or USGBC for failing to lead in almost anything green - this seems to routinely produce some of the more interesting stuff.
also, what's up with UC pomona? the program seems to be getting significantly stronger every.
Cal Poly Pomona has the advantage of being just outside LA so it has a lot of resources (as do all the other arch programs in LA.) Add to that its very low tuition, and you get an amazing pool of applicants. As in past years the B.Arch program received around 2500 applicants for just 90 spots. The GPA of students entering the program is among the highest of all the CSU programs in the state (I know GPA is not the end all for evaluating students, but it is an important marker.) The grad program, although significantly smaller, also attracts excellent students. The school is not so good at marketing what goes on there. Every year students win a lot of state & national scholarship & competitions. And graduating b.arch students get into all the top grad programs. If the school had the marketing resources of other programs in LA its merits would more broadly recognized.
