The aim of this project consists of designing a new facade and conducting an overhaul of the interior spaces for an existing historic building - namely the Gage Building, a Chicago structure designed by Holabird and Root, with a facade originally designed by Louis Sullivan. As a team, we established the critical strategies towards the facade’s redesign, and then individually tackled how those strategies might be developed. Investigations followed regarding building materials, details, and products that offer up possibilities towards informing the overall design. The rejuvenated building houses the new Chicago School of Digital Media.
