Toronto, a rapidly growing metropolis, has put countering urban sprawl and revitalizing its waterfront at the top of its list of priorities. The city’s vision is to turn the waterfront into a series of sustainable, mixed-use urban precincts, integrated with parks and open spaces, that greatly expand Toronto’s capacity for urban living, employment, and recreation. As the waterfront revitalization area most central to the downtown core, the East Bayfront precinct represents a distinct opportunity for the city’s center to establish a positive and meaningful precedent. This project introduces a vision and defines guidelines for the development of the site.
