The datascapes presented in this study map a district of neighborhoods located directly to the south of the University of Toronto campus. These drawings include traditional figure-ground maps documenting various morphologies of the study area, as well as less traditional three-dimensional volumetric depictions of the distribution of biomass within the site. Through an abstraction of the created datascapes, multiple transformations lead to a series of digital re-interpretations of the data, finally culminating in the generation of a physical artifact. The three-dimensional form of the sculpture is a further abstraction of the original map.
