The project was developed for an architectural competition, where the preliminary program focused on the development of a parcel of land located in the old neighborhood of Braço de Prata in Lisbon, an area characterized by an history closely linked to industry, where were located some of the first industrial units and workers neighborhoods in Lisbon. The project is part of a new reality in the city of Lisbon, where occasionally arise in old neighborhoods new types of equipment, contributing to the creation of new urban experiences.
In terms of functional organization the building is developed in two floors, concentrating the services and recreational areas on the ground floor, including living rooms, study rooms, kitchen and dining area. The bedrooms are located on the first floor, where we defined five double rooms with private toilet. In the composition of the facade, stands out a clear distinction between the upper and lower floor. While in the ground floor the elevation is defined by a linear translucent composition, making use of a double glass facade, the upper floor is characterized by the white volumes of housing units and their difference in size, alluding to the volumetric irregularity of the old neighborhoods of Lisbon.
