The architectural project for the Deqing Villa, in Huzhou Provence, thrives to achieve a clear and pure design, seeking a suitable integration in the surrounding natural environment. Located in the base of a mountain area, the construction site extends through a very steep slope. The formal implementation of the proposal seeks to minimize the impact over the existing terrain, adapting it to the natural topography by building in several levels which minimize the volume of construction. The concept adopted for the formal composition of the villa intends to “blend” the principles of materiality and transparency, creating different environments and sensations. The functional distribution of the house is organized and separated into three floors, guaranteeing some “independence” between private spaces and social spaces. The interior design of the social areas is characterized by the use of open-spaces and double-heights, where we tried to minimize visual barriers between social spaces and to the surrounding landscape.
