Without experience for the highrise in North America, I am curious of some basic issues with this type of the buildings.
For the typ. Floor plate, is 1500 sqm( or 15000sqf) maximum size for one fire compartment? If there is need to add more floor area, i think the major components would be egress stair to satisfy the fire code. Is my assumption legible?
Read the international building code - available online from ICC - the answer to your question is that it is a mix of occupancy, use, construction type and many other code requirements. You will have a minimum of 2 stairs for any high rise building.
