So I just thought I started a new job. I was offered a job in Manhattan (where I have always lived) and the principal asked me to come in on Friday for my first day. His current associate (and he only has 1) said that she had given two weeks notice. I found out today that she changed her mind, and the principal was calling to rescind his offer because he no longer had the need.
Common behavior, not only in architecture. I've heard many stories of mid-level corporate managers who have moved their families across the country and when they show up at the new job, they got told, "oops, guess we should have contacted you. We decided not to create that job after all."

Ethics in Architecture

What do you make of this?
That's a big ol' bummer; sorry to hear it.
But I don't consider that an ethical breach --unless he made up the story.
Ethics in architecture? LOL
Good luck in the job hunt..
Sorry. Sh!t happens, especially to people who work for other architects.
But what do you think - bankers, lawyers, doctors are the stalwarts of high ethics?
Ethics are the antithesis of capitalism.
