mark bittman's food tour through spain w/ paltrow, mario batali and claudia bassols called spain-on the road again
batali and paltrow go to girona, end up near the cathedral and head over to the jewish quarter. they get all choked up (in a faux tourist-y way) hella annoying. the few episodes i watched (the scenery is stunning - it is spain, and of course the food looked delicious), platrow and batali said utterly stupid and ridiculous things every time they opened their mouths. it was baaad.
oscar n has a new complex of buildings going up in brazil. Mrs b was showing me photos and rendering videos for the brazilian newpaper today. I like this new on....If I can locate it it might be showing ups soon and well I know it will be an easy pick for who the architect is...and ya the guy is over 100....the building is to be completed in 2010.
Name that Architect and Building!!!
Paraty House
Marcio Kogan
Oh to be a Brazilian sybarite...
is that the Paratay Beach House by Marcio Kogan?
4 minutes too late
don't tease diabase, come on give us some more
olot is a really weird place. who knew such a small village could be home to some amazing architecture...
rcr arquitectes, pavilions for cols restaurant, girona.
blythe danner's annoyingly retarded daughter and that fat fuck batali and his orange crocs ruined girona for me.
agfa, is that stainless steel?
holz, clear to elaborate?

actually it's very thin aluminium - the whole thing is full of helium and just floating there!
Junya Ishigam - Balloon @ the MOT. Pretty impressive considering it weighs about a ton.
holz...i watched that series as well...the scenery and spain do look beautiful - as does claudia bassols!!! ahh..those spaniard women...sigh...
ok, back to architecture...
agfa8x - thats a phenomenal project. I love seeing this kind of work.
I know it's a tough one to follow up with.
next:
very familiar... where have I seen this. Australian?
Makes me think of Hans Scharoun
Au is right, Canberra specifically. The way that surface peels apart to show the color definitely has the Scharoun vibe to it
Commonwealth Place Kiosks
Canberra
Terroir
haha guess you didn't need that extra hint, nice timing.
And Hans Scharoun is very highly regards in Victorian and Tasmanian architecture practices...
regard-ed.
Another shot of this very nice facade:
it's really nice skin. is it australian? like mcbride charles ryan or something?
It has that Melbourne-esque play with the facade and tesselation/patterning going on, but it is in European country starting with D
isn't pihl & son from denmark?
It's not 3XN's Liverpool museum is it?

Phuyake is close...
and its not made out of Corten, but the client's/building name is shimilar
why, then it follows that it's Horten Headquarters, Copenhagen, by 3XN
just putting the tips together.
diabase, this facade is very nice, thank you for posting it.
I've always liked 3XN - very clever work.
i like the way it's hard to tell the actual relief from the apparent relief
ah so it was 3xn. the liverpool museum's facade pattern is more horizontal, but sort of similar (less windows).
you up ckl?
I kind of cheated, but...
this one is the US somewhere hot and dry
and it has light shafts inside?
it looks like richard + bauer's meinel lab in AZ
oh, and it is.
next up:
hah judging by the trees, and the convenience outlets in the kitchen I am going to say it's swiss (also because holz has selected it)
it's on the neckar - not swiss...
but nice pick up.
but with those trees, that could be just outside seattle. the concrete doesn't look too bad, either.
has to be german, austrian or czech...
judging by the outlets, the induction cookyop, the bottled mineral water and the espresso machine.
i'm going to lean towards austrian because the pan on the stove is a french oven,=.
but it could be in alsace!
