simples, are you referring to ADA height clearance? if so , couldn't this be bypassed w/ a strip like @ gehry's disney hall?

holz...yes, that's what i was referring to...that strip at disney is one of those rare instances i thought common sense prevailed (ada height clearance intended for the blind, hence the strip working) - i still think that in michigan, we'd see some handrails keeping people away...

i would love to see the interior of the room with the window where the "kink' takes place...

Did someone post A-techno's house at some point? I remember talking about that entryway, nice project. Is Orochi up?

If you google search for architekturbüro, you'll come across one of the sites whose firm designed this.

you'll come across one of the sites whose firm designed this.

that only narrows it down to the 30,000+ architecture firms in DE/CH/AT, plus another hundred thousand more (translated) from every other country...

It's similar to a couple of the other corten star wars projects that have showed up on this thread before (ie. Fuksas' entrance to neolithic caves at Niaux). This one's in Germany, and was a gift from one town to another.

I dont have it either. I've found another very nice corten tower in germany, propbably nicer in fact, but nothing whatsoever on this. Nothing. Nothing in flickr. People in flickr should tag photos correctly, would make life easier.

the firm has offices in Vienna and Luxembourg. A couple other projects from them:

This viewing tower is certainly a bit garish; from the project description that was the intent. Diabase, I'm curious which project you came across in your search?

If no one gets it after this I'll unmask it in a few.

Okay, I actually have two Corten buildings! But I will post an easy one I came across while looking for the tower.

I think I have a boner for Corten.

Corten definitely stains concrete, the ground, basically anywhere touched by run-off.

I'm a sucker for corten. Sometimes I think it's becoming a bit cliche, but when it's done and detailed well it's one of my favorite materials. For my first self-designed building I used corten, and I justified it because it's in an industrial neighborhood and I wanted that sort of timeless, it's been here forever look. Plus the client is a metal artist and he could also get massive sheets for cheap. The runoff can definitely be a concern (or a blessing); we designed a somewhat hidden gutter system at the base of the panels that would divert runoff away from the sidewalk so it wouldn't stain.

That tower is impressive diabase, looks like a steel section through and Escher drawing.

i am striking out with the corten posts...like the tower, but can't name it!

I don’t think so. but there is a corten sign near my house and it is doing the same thing, but the rust isn’t as orange (unfortunately – hot!)

The tower was recently published in AR. It’s adjacent to the senftenberger see.

Phu, that project sounds interesting. got a photo?

Ok I'll try and knock out some of these projects. Diabase's tower is Stefan Giers and Susanne Gabriel's Landmark for the Lusatian Lakeland; Orochi's viewing platform is by Astearchitecture. Not sure who the house is designed by...

Holz, here is the current state of the project:

which will hopefully look like this eventually (right click for larger):

There were some tricky site conditions to deal with; namely the fact that the building had lot line restrictions even though it felt/looks like a corner building (next to a church yard that wouldn't likely ever be built out). We had to do some negotiating with the department of buildings to allow those cutouts on the side to ensure we could get ample light into the space. Hopefully it comes out looking sort of like the rendering (sans the lens flare, of course). It's a private project so the client is set on making the best product for himself, so I'm optimistic.
