in the interests of expediting the thread, it's Michael Webb's Temple Island project from 1987. actually, thinking back i might already have posted it here!
you have a new one to post holz? I just spent 7 hours surveying an illegal hostel, i need to see a nice project to remind myself why i'm in this profession.
If the object depicted at the center of Boullée's hollow sphere is original to the drawing, then it is something that one forgets with the passage of time. Yet there it is in every reproduction. What was it, do you suppose -- an orrery ?
all those boullee's drawings for the cenotaph are quite amazing at a larger scale...focus at the people at the base of the sphere, and then decide whether or not that building truly respects human scale...
interesting how zumthor's chapel, at such small scale, also respects human scale in its own way...one is contemplative through majestics, the other is contemplative thru humility...
and yes, that wood siding into seating is sexy!!! i wonder how the wood will age through all those "austrian?!?!" winters...what wood is it?!
My boss is Austrian, and back when we used to have people working here (i just got rehired this week) is was primarily European (at one point we had someone from Spain, Italy, 2 from Poland, three from Berlin, one from Switzerland, one from Texas, and myself) so our library reflects that. Our work, well not always so much. I'll post another in a few.
got it. Lazzarini Architekten - housing in Giardin. I have another swiss building handy but i think four in a row might be much, so i'll post in a few.
Name that Architect and Building!!!
aww come on - you're not all into 'buildable' architecture are you?

i didn't realize i was right.

an illuminated sphere (lamp)
interestingly, the part i never realized was the numerous holes piercing the top half of the sphere to represent stars during the day.
reminescent of this...
That sounds/looks about right SDR. Imagine being in that space? Like a massive planetarium, but without the smoke machines and dippin' dot ice cream.
Holz that detail with the siding turning in to the seating element is beautiful. Is it a pavilion and-or kiosk and-or bathrooms?
it's a pvilion/cafe/restroom at a castle park, landscaping by dieter kienast.
these guys are good w/ wood.

holz, that's gotta be martin rauch
process is similar to zumthor's rammed concrete, i think. not rauch.
i've never seen that. it's beautiful. does anyone know when it was built?
märkli? maybe not.

I like the proportions, really blends in to the surrounding woods. those are big sheets of glass.

España. more images:
