i haven't received anything from gsd after the call. if this is some unspeakably cruel joke, i will sue for emotional damages! what is the logic behind why some people get packages and others get calls?
+i .... congratulations!!!! I know a faculty member there named Lisa Schweitzer form my UCLA days. I believe she is at VT/CAUS' envinronmental planning/urban studies department.
checking in to see if i had any questions about the program and to say that he personally reviewed my application/portfolio and that he thought it was strong...
i think they're matching faculty with students based on interests demonstrated in the portfolio.
who knows. i wish i would get something in the mail, though.
thanks everyone :) i'm still waiting on carnegie mellon. then i have to decide between a post-pro m.arch at UVA, or a phd at VT or CMU. good luck to everyone still waiting!!!!! :P i can't wait to go have a drink tonight!
wow. that's intense nicey. I'm not sure I'd be prepared to chat casually about my interests with a Harvard faculty member before getting to meet him/her in person... I very much want MIT to call but I don't think I'll answer it. :-)
ClemsonDnB - says my friend who got the March I GSD pacakge "it was priority usps, postmarked march 20 it came the 22nd"
I've actually wondered if they do that. Sort of makes sense, really. It would assure that as many of us as possible get into at least one program and would also keep their matriculation rates up.
O.k. I decided to ask via e-mail instead of calling. Here's what I wrote:
Stacy,
I'm writing to ask when you guys expect to have decision letters mailed. I might have to travel for business April 4-6, but don't want to miss the open house if I am accepted.
I've heard that some were accepted via phone call last week and am curious to know if everyone who's been accepted has already been notified.
I understand if you can't provide any information via e-mail, but thought I'd give it a shot.
UC Berkeley, I'm waiting there too... I checked, they will send an email notification by the end of the month- unofficial, and then an official by mid April. So My thought is don't expect anything from Berkeley until 5pm, march 30th
yes i know, but knowing that some people received an email yet, i was wondering if i will get one soon too (except if they do it with an alphabetics order) :)
so.. guess we have to wait a few more days on GSD... hopefully there are still some acceptances left! good luck to everyone!
im excited about Columbia, but am really worried about the money... not just tuition but living in NYC. I am sure I will find someway to do it, but its stressful.
2007 M.Arch applicants, commiserate here!
nicey - what did they talk to you about?
bacon of course.
i haven't received anything from gsd after the call. if this is some unspeakably cruel joke, i will sue for emotional damages! what is the logic behind why some people get packages and others get calls?
It does seem a bit weird... Maybe it will become the basis for your first studio project.
:D i know this isnt for m.arch... but i was just accepted to Virginia Tech PhD program :)
in architecture of course
congrats, join in the love!
Froccli-
They are exploring the boundaries of the tangible and intangible.
I envy those who got a call, and experience not to be duplicated, the thrill, the rush, the ecstasy...
You envy me, who got a package, solid, tactile, which I hug and cuddle when I got to sleep...
Aren't they sick bastards?
=P

I've got a package you can pet.
Just living up to my reputation as "The Stalker".
that was a little creepy....
You think the faculty are trading future students around like baseball cards?
"I'll let you have the one with the amazing sculpture work if you let me have the one with the perfect GRE's and the hilarious personal statement."
I love this thread.
I've actually wondered if they do that. Sort of makes sense, really. It would assure that as many of us as possible get into at least one program and would also keep their matriculation rates up.
baboomba, this thread clearly loves you as well.
my stock must have been trading down based on the dearth of correspondence.
this is the quite before the storm - the MIT storm.
Thanks, Froccli.
I think the wind is picking up a little.
Hey, how many MIT applicants do we have here and how many attended the open house?
I applied for MArch I and attended the open house.
is everybody receive news from UC Berkeley??... i am still waiting.
FROCCLI - Maybe they ALL want you and can't make a deal... eh? eh?
At least the atmosphere on this forum is a bit lighter than it was yesterday. We can all thank NambyPambics and Speak the Hungarian Rapper for that.
"Cmmon, Yeee, Dats Right....."
And Froccli making public her desire to pet a package.
O.k. That's it. I'm calling GSD to ask what the deal is.
Be back in a second.
what's the word?
fred-- i am still waiting on berkeley as well...at least there are a few of us
anyone else still waiting?
*raised hand*

Waiting is the hardest part.
