haha i knew i was missing something! that was a last minute add on but i loved it so much i had to throw it on there. Glad you dug it Steven. I cannot wait for the next one!
B-sides and rarities - be creative, find the most random, unique songs, covers, studio tracks you can find.
Local Music - represent your hometown, city, state with bands that have some association with where you live. for those who its applicable to, no, you cannot just use a whole sufjan stevens album.
A chain mix - the last word in the title of the first track is the first word in the title of the next track. I.e.
monkey gone to heaven
heaven beside you
you say he's just a friend
etc.
some sort of architecture themed mix would be cool too.
i agree with the chain mix. i was just thinking that maybe the title of the last song becomes the theme for the next mix, so everyone would have a different theme each round based on the mix before. i wonder how long it would take before it went full circle??
betadinesures- i'm really glad you liked the mix- i send it in pretty minimalist packaging- but in case you were wondering what you have been listening to-

Ok, so at this point i thnk it's safe to say that the first swap was pretty much a success. A few bugs here and there but nothing we cant work out. Anyway, if you can believe it, it's time for the next one. sign ups for this one will end on Sunday. You don't have to say anything if you were allready in the first one, I'll assume you want to be in the second one unless you say something. If you want to join in the fun, just add a comment about it here. Anyone who did not send a cd and had no contact with their giftee except for extranious circumstances for the first swap will be dropped unless I hear from them. Also, so that i'm not cornering the market on themes, cast your vote for who gets to pick the next theme! (its worth a shot anyway)
I think a summer theme is appropriate. Personally I am less interested in themes that force a structure, like every song starts with a certain letter or whatever, but that's just me.
i am going to build my next mix around a song overheard at a grocery store...and match me with liberty so i know i will get a cd as she is within driving distance.
alright, well i hope huanmic got his cd by now >>??<< and i hope this does not spoil the surprise but i felt compelled to post my playlist before round two gets going (oh i want in by the way). so i work best with themes, so i made a mix that sudo- chronicled my move from albuquerque to los angeles (8 more weeks to go!) using my most favorite songs of the moment/music that makes me think of california

quix should make an executive decision about any guidelines for this next round...and fast. if i don't get the thing made in the next two weeks, it's going to have to wait until the end of july when i get back from my summer teaching assignment. (cds won't be with me.)
or maybe quixotica will want to delegate management to someone else this time? i'll take a later round but i'm up to my ears this month. maybe august...
(I've still got those Extremem Engineering pilots from last night on my mind.)
And yay for driving music as I now own a convertible! (Though it has no cd player - it has a cassette tape player! ha!)
Speaking of driving, AP, I finally listened to a good portion of your cd this morning in the car - very enjoyable so far, I'm going to listen to it more now as I work.
ok, i give. i've been reading this for a while and been hesitant about joining in, since i don't have a huge music collection. but i think i can deal with driving/summery music. so count me in. it'll be a bit of a wait, because my cd will be coming from south america.
this is what Strawbeary received, but judging by the silence i would say either she hates or has yet to listen through the library...

CD Swap!
haha i knew i was missing something! that was a last minute add on but i loved it so much i had to throw it on there. Glad you dug it Steven. I cannot wait for the next one!
Some ideas i had for upcoming swaps:
Guilty Pleasures
B-sides and rarities - be creative, find the most random, unique songs, covers, studio tracks you can find.

i agree with the chain mix. i was just thinking that maybe the title of the last song becomes the theme for the next mix, so everyone would have a different theme each round based on the mix before. i wonder how long it would take before it went full circle??

thanks for the cd Gabe =]
thanks superglue! i really like it. i was only familiar with soul meets body, so it's all new music to me. i listened to it the other day on my way to the studio. it was a bright sunny day and the music seemed to fit perfectly. thanks again!!! =D
Yay for round 2!!!!
What?! Where the hell is pixelwhore?!?
vado I'll make you a cd and bring it just so I can drive my Miata somewhere!
As a matter of coincidence, I'm currently listening to the cd YOU made, vado. This old 97s song is so fun. And my Miata is a compact car!
it's cliche, but i like the summer mix or Gabe's idea...
"Possible theme - Choose a favorite song from the mix you recieved and develop the CD with songs that can be associated to the new song."
i saw pixelwhore in the flash, but he has certainly e-disappeared to say the least.
alright, well i hope huanmic got his cd by now >>??<< and i hope this does not spoil the surprise but i felt compelled to post my playlist before round two gets going (oh i want in by the way). so i work best with themes, so i made a mix that sudo- chronicled my move from albuquerque to los angeles (8 more weeks to go!) using my most favorite songs of the moment/music that makes me think of california

on an aside, i am still waiting for my round one cd. i beleive susan surface had some computer problems, so i will continue to be patient.
quix should make an executive decision about any guidelines for this next round...and fast. if i don't get the thing made in the next two weeks, it's going to have to wait until the end of july when i get back from my summer teaching assignment. (cds won't be with me.)
or maybe quixotica will want to delegate management to someone else this time? i'll take a later round but i'm up to my ears this month. maybe august...
Um, yeah, I'm with Steven - literally, I'll be gone sans cd's too.
How about Gabe's 'start with a song from the cd you got and make a new mix" theme? Easy and loose.
what if u didnt get a cd???
should there be punishments?!?
count me in for round two please... :)
Ok executive decision time.
Because of the weather and travel and all that summer stuff, the theme of this mix will be
Summer/driving songs
I know some of you (randar82) have allready done a cd like this but now its just time to get more creative.
As far as the list goes for who sends to whom, I will post that on
sunday.
Was that official enough?
Yes, sir, thank you, sir!
(I've still got those Extremem Engineering pilots from last night on my mind.)
And yay for driving music as I now own a convertible! (Though it has no cd player - it has a cassette tape player! ha!)
Speaking of driving, AP, I finally listened to a good portion of your cd this morning in the car - very enjoyable so far, I'm going to listen to it more now as I work.
somebody make lb a cassete tape!!!
just wanna make sure i'm in for round two
i think i hear a cd of surf music coming on... watch out tarantino-randar is in town.
in!
ok, i give. i've been reading this for a while and been hesitant about joining in, since i don't have a huge music collection. but i think i can deal with driving/summery music. so count me in. it'll be a bit of a wait, because my cd will be coming from south america.
this is what Strawbeary received, but judging by the silence i would say either she hates or has yet to listen through the library...

vado retro - The CD is great. I haven't been home or near a CD player much but I've listened to it through twice now and it's been great. You've introduced me to some new favorites.

"vivaldi? what the fk?"
beta, I thought I gave a thumbs up and a thanks somewhere up there. Anyways, thanks, I have listened to it all, and it sure rounds out my taste in music. In other words, it is music I enjoy, but do not currently own, so twas successful.
