architechno, congrats on 4,000, and feel the love coming right back at you!

(I swear I'm doing an island vacation one of these days.)

I said to a friend today that you guys on TC and the rest of the 'nect are seriously my co-workers. But I don't have to lose you all when I move to a new job, yay!

Speaking of jobs, DubK, ask them if you can start at 18 or so, with the intent of trying to see if you can go up to 24, but with the understanding that school work comes first and this is a trial period.

Just drew four different lamp possibilities in Sketchup - I f*cked up and thought the lamp I was seeing a picture of was an oval, because for some godforsaken reason Lightology chose to describe it as 28" W by 59" L by 4" h. Well the shade is clearly 4" tall, so I assumed the two other dimensions meant it was an oval, not that it was a 28" diameter (that would be D., Lightology!!) circle that hangs 59" down from the ceiling!

So I'm screwed. I will be facing unhappy clients tomorrow morning at 8am despite my best Sketchup efforts to find a substitution.

Sigh. Sorry you had such a lousy day Steven, hope Friday treats you better!

all ok here. i was just decompressing last night.

crappy day working on a project i really didn't think i should be working on since it too all day and required that i ignore the one big $20m that's been weighing on my shoulders for mos and for which cds are due tues.

the project on which i was working? apparently the most impt in the office?: color selections for a shopping cntr to paint their dryvit. it was determined that helping them with this little project was a good marketing move and since i don't DRAW much anymore, i was the only one free to do this. on top of everything, this marketing move could ONLY result in more work that i don't want to do!

happy friday. gonna go drink my coffee now. today should be better. spending the morning on an above-ceiling punch list inspection. gotta take advil with my coffee because i'm sure to have an aching neck this afternoon.

I'm barely alive... I woke up at 2:00 this morning with the worst charley horse I've ever had in my life. There was a knot in my calf about the size and hardness of a golf ball, and it took almost a full half-hour for the muscle spasm to subside. The pain was so bad it almost made amputation look like a preferable option, and it still hurts like hell now. I've been having some problems with muscle spasms lately, but nothing as bad as this.

Talk about not sleeping....My head was spinning after my late evening meeting...so of course had to rehash it in my head at least a dozen times before I feel asleep which was of course after I spent an hour on the computer reformatting drawings for the next go around. I know I need to sit down and write a recap of the meeting, just so things do not get lost because I know we are in for a long haul. Hopefully we will prevail, but in these matters no one really knows.

Personnel house-cleaning at the office first thing this morning. First time I've ever been this close to it, as it was my direct Proj. Arch. I was assured though that it had no reflections on me and had been a long time coming after several warnings. I'm just feeling really weird right now.

I've been having problems sleeping, too. Moving anxiety. The constant feeling of having something very important to do keeps my eyes open well into the night.

ATTENTION Steven Ward!!!!!!

I don't think I posted yet how absolutely beautiful Adeline looks - and IS - in that picture you posted. She is a truly beautiful girl. AND she does look exactly like you, but you're not as innocent-looking as she is!

I started to post this, then vado posted that naked lady picture above and it derailed me off talking about beauty for a moment.

So I think perhaps I was being a tad dramatic when I said I wouldn't be around very much. I'm at my new job right now, and they have me covering the front desk until they get a permanent person in a couple of weeks, which has involved staring at the phone and checking the internet thus far. Since I'm the student I am now back to being office "bitch", if you will, and I am getting paid as such. However, I am in this "special" new office dealing with innovation, and it's a fun little group, so they are glad to have me (a former professional interested in innovation) and I am glad to have a low-stress, flexible, interesting place to get a little bit of income out of.

I slept like a baby last night. Also rode my bike this morning on what I would consider a perfect biking day. I'm just about over my little cold, too, so I'm content....

I love the NPR thread too.

I'm supposed to go to Fishers, Indiana in two weeks for a groundbreaking ceremony.

I'm trying to get out of it so that I can go to a concert the night before. I paid $40 smackers for the ticket. The band is British so they don't make it to my city in the Dirty South very often. Plus, I have zero emotional attachment to this project.

Does this make me a bad employee?

Advice please.

pity it's still so divisive.

Go to the concert. Groundbreakings are 99% a waste of time. Unless you're the one in the middle of the picture, digging the dirt, you don't need to be there.

But I reallly, really like all of you no matter what happens to me or Jesus!

Liberty, Gin and rationalist - thanks for the suggestions. I've taken them all under advisement, and sent them all emails. Will let you know how tat goes

Mighty, whilst that is a Jamaican dish I'm back at work in Montserrat. So I wouldn't be able to take you to all the fun locals...We were just cooking homemade dishes we grew up on for all to taste and enjoy with a few beers.

no prob, techno. You always help me out with the island construction questions.... speaking of which, my dad sends me some pretty funny emails whilst he attempts to learn SketchUp. Anyway, yeah, two of my friends have been working on healthcare projects with HOK, so they were at the top of my mind.

mighty (me) is not eb.

though rationalist, you are correct in that i did admit to being eb.

i thought i retracted that though. p'raps not.

either way...i would never suggest that there was anything fucked up about viewing porn, drinking and posting to archinect on company time.

in fact - that about fits my work description. ;-)

i think eb=puddles. puddles shows up only to say "puddles lives" but always knows just what's going on.

i'll bet if you worked for puddles you'd know who eb really was.

rationalist, no need to apologize for something i didn't know you did.

i went back though and tried to find where i claimed to be evangelical and to confirm whether or not i had retracted. there's too many damn pages here though.

my intentions on claiming to be eb were in hopes of drawing him/her out.

thanks tk!

I've always had my suspicions about who eb really was, and I've kept them to myself because I don't want to spoil the fun. I like the way eb comes in every once in a while and gets everyone mildly aggravated. At least (s)he's not malicious.....

now crushmaster.....there's a mystery. Or is there?! ;o)*

Last ground breaking I went to they had taped 100 bills together and yup yours truely with about five other people got to slice those babies in half. It was a ground breaking for a Bank I finished up in the Spring....hold on it is August and the Contractor Project Manager was in my office to day telling me he was going to have everything finished on Saturday.....I just chuckled....Ya right same ole fricking story. I have never had a contractor so lax about submitting Lien Waviers and approved change orders. But heck with him the Bankers Love Me so they say. Next Project it major restoration of there turn of the Century Main Bank.
