Demo (My) House (c2005). After we pulled up the wavy floors then levelled 'em out. After we demo'd the disco era bathroom of dark brown, carpet (who da faak does this?) & foil wallpaper. After we demo'd 900sf of decaying pine deck. After I dumped 12 dumptruck-loads of dirt & rock, to finally get a back yard.
It will be really bitchin' when I jack up the back & & level the back wall. Even better when we pull off all exterior wood & replace it w/ Brutalist level concrete! Effectively making hundreds of carpenter bees homeless.

the coop himmelblau house in venice, ca is one of the worst ive ever seen..i know this is going to offend many people here, but that crap is just noise for the sake of it
mwad u should really check out maison sans glass (house without glass) by atelier vadoretro. the craftsmanship/detailing/mechanisms reach a new level of mediocrity plus there is no glass.
I'll go in on Maison de Verre by Pierre Chareau - its every shop rat's dream.
mwad - there is a really good publication on the house, I believe its a GA Houses book. Its tough to find, but definately worth reading. I'd love to buy myself a copy if anyone knows where I can pick one up for a reasonable price...
actually one of my favorite houses is Ghery's own house. I actually think is one of the few times he was very creative. I really liked it, and has influenced me more thatn a thousand fish ever could
Pixelwhore, I'll have to check that out. I was lucky enough to go on a tour of the house while I was traveling Europe with a school program. To see it in person was pretty incredible.
gropius' house is rather nice as well...
visited it in person and the details and
thought that went into it show...very compact,
but well lived in and designed for good living.
Often we think of great houses y themselves.
I'm by no means a Classicist, or 'Traditionalist', but there's a lot to be said for the older houses in the squares of Savannah...and New Orleans, I'd imagine.
I'd like to see ya'll post some examples of 'Modern', 'Ultra-Mod', 'Contemporary', (or whatever it's called now) 'neighborhoods', or groupings. Like 'squares', or something relevant.
