After putting together some sophisticated sorcery and the cheap old tricks of undergrad school, I managed to graduate 'Come Lad' from a European university, based only 50 miles off a WW2 concentration camp.
The good ol' student days are now past me and I am, therefore, available for hire, while the world is still young.
As you shall expect, I am very much looking forward to spending the rest of my days chasing the impossible dream of.. the Architecture. Da Arckitectur. Ja! (racism intended)
I want to thank my professors for mentoring me. I want to thank Karl Marx for making me a socialist, and my father for paying off my student loan.
I would have preferred it is Dolby just didn’t leap in front of the dagger. Harry has a good run, would have been great to see Dolby finish off the moves as the star.
Unless the OP graduated from Hogwarts (I wasn't aware they had an architecture program), your comparison doesn't really apply. How many sorcerers are there that graduate architecture school?

Here is the deal Bubbles, just because you're average and your career in architecture is mediocre doesn't mean everyone else is the same.

First off while there can be parts of the career that is mundane there really isn't anything assembly line repetitive in the field of architecture. Even the most mundane of tasks require some degree of problem solving and innovation. If you're just doing repetitive, assembly line type tasks either your attitude sucks or more than likely you're no functioning as an architect. Second, and I can't stress this enough, JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE AVERAGE BUBBLES DOESN'T MEAN EVERYONE IS. Yeah the average person in this profession only rises to the level of a Project Architect (still an accomplishment). Fortunately for there to be an average there must be also be range both above and below said average.
^ Logical conclusion given what Chad outlined, "Yeah the average person in this profession only rises to the level of a Project Architect (still an accomplishment). Fortunately for there to be an average there must be also be range both above and below said average." ... "If you're just doing repetitive, assembly line type tasks either your attitude sucks or more than likely you're no functioning as an architect."

This is more exhausting than talking to a brick wall. I figured self-proclaimed high achievers would be critical thinkers. I'm just going to leave this here:
Cool story. Maybe try harder next time. It's not hard to make it above average here. You can do it!

Bubbles, I'm not refuting that most architects are 'average' We're all average in some respect, you, me, Non Sequitur (he'll refute that). What I'm refuting is your message that most architects are just a part of an assembly line implying that no critical thinking skills or talent are going to be used.

^are you saying it's all relative? Compared to bubbles... yeah, I'm not average. Compared to others, perhaps I am. Still does not really help his/her piss-poor generalization of the profession.

I think once you reach a standard of practice it's all relative. There are so many aspects of the profession that you can have a wide range of talent / competence
in.
I'll fully admit that I'm below average in conceptual and schematic design. I can do it, but there are plenty of others that are better at it than I am. However, I'm above average in other areas which is why I have a job. I still think the OP is demonstrably not your average graduate for the 3 reasons I outlined above.

I agree with your last statement. I myself am great at conceptual and schematic design. Doing CA and project management are not my strong suites but I'm working on it. ;)

I made it, man!

Congratulations to... me I suppose?
Dobby is a free elf.
Dobby dies.
To save Gehry.

*dobby.
You're not a free elf until master gives you clothes. Now get going on those red-lines creature! ::snaps whip::
Welcome to the start of your career!
Congratulations, now join the assembly line of workers in the wonderful world of Architecture.
That's just your career dude.
Yep, no assembly lines here either.
The average fresh graduate will be working as a cog in the architectural machine out of school. That is a fact.
That is not fact. I certainly didn't and out my peers, I only know of one who fell into a straight production only role.
Again, I reiterate, the average graduate.
You didn't iterate the average graduate in or OP. Probably why you're average.
Yes I'm statistically closer to the average. Without much info, a reasonable assumption would be to interpret OP as the average as well.
Based on what we know of the OP, I don't think they are an average graduate at all:
Being a sorcerer is certainly not average material.
There are more average wizards than there are Harry Potters at Hogwarts. Checkmate.
I don’t play checkers.
