Provided laboratory consulting services for the State of Florida's joint-use marine research facility for the USF College of Marine Science and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Fish & Wildlife Research Institute.
The University of South Florida Knight Oceanographic Research Center is a 53,000 SF marine research facility whose program spans various marine science disciplines including: biology, chemistry, geology, physics, and mathematics addressing socially-relevant and basic research issues concerning the shelf, coastal and estuarine waters, the deep ocean, and coastal zone watershed. Program includes marine biology, biochemistry, and physical oceanography labs, faculty office and conference space, and aquaria facility with full seawater manufacturing capabilities.
The Fish and Wildlife Research Institute's work includes assessment and restoration of ecosystems and studies of freshwater and marine fisheries, aquatic and terrestrial wildlife, imperiled species, and red tides. The institute develops the information science required to analyze and disseminate research products and engages in outreach activities to complement all programs. Program components include marine biology and biochemistry research labs, research staff offices, administrative support and conferencing space, a roof top staff lounge, and a shared remote sensing satellite oceanography and conferencing center; 94,000 SF.
