A 7,000 SF renovation located on the Technological Institute Building D-Wing second floor is designed as a collaborative teaching lab for majors and non-majors and supports new green chemistry curricula. Support spaces include a prep lab, computer lab, NMR lab, Problem Based Learning classroom and Teaching Assistant office space. Student capacity was increased from 43 to 75 to maximize class size and enrollment while having no net increase in the overall number of fume hoods. Designed using sustainable principles and materials, the lab has exceeded student and faculty expectations and is estimated to save Northwestern University $350,000 - $450,000 in yearly energy costs.
