Dance/ Educational Facility

The Educational Facility for dance embodies a hierarchal statement in relation to the program through extrusion and setback of forms, materiality with contrasting qualities, and circulation.  The circulation acts as a transitional piece that connects the more dominant programmatic elements to those that are more subtly integrated within the overall design.

The Separated tower of practice studios is connected to the rest of the educational facility by a system of luminaires that have a number of LED lights within them.  The lights change color by a series of sensors located in the dance floors of the studios.  The sensors record the speed of pressure given off by the dancers.  A faster pace dance alludes warmers colors while a slower pace gives of cooler tones.
