João Gomes da Silva, founder of Global Arquitectura Paisagista (Global Landscape Architecture) with Inês Norton in Lisbon, Portugal, gave a public lecture on their work last month at the Knowlton School. Global Arquitectura Paisagista was founded on the basis of creating a group that generates landscape theory and space from the interpretation of economic, social and contemporary cultural transformations. Gomes da Silva shared a number of projects that clearly derive from the goals of his practice.
Gomes da Silva has taught as a Visiting Professor at Versailles, TU Berlin, ETSA Barcelona, UdS Roma (Sapienza), and UdS Sassari (Alghero). Since 2012 he has been a Professor at Mendrisio Accademia di Architettura and teaches at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, Department Architecture. He is currently a Design Critic in Landscape Architecture at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. (http://knowlton.osu.edu/event/jo%C3%A3o-gomes-da-silva-global-arquitectura-paisagista)
