The Knowlton school welcomed French architects François Roche and Camille Lacadee on October 7 to give a lecture titled "mythomaniaS". According to Roche "mythomaniaS" is described " …as an history of multiple-psycho-disorders, consequences of the multiplicity of contingencies and incoherencies, nonsenses, constructing hazardous causalities and consequences / including Chemistry, Computing, Robotic … through ‘Bachelor Machines’ palpitating between Eros-Thanatos drive, as desirable machines in the pursuit of Antonin Artaud and Gilles Deleuze … as line of subjectivities and technological protocols able to redefine apparatus of transaction / where Species, Animism and Machinism could re-negotiate their contact-contract / … … … … /."
Roche co-founded R&Sie(n) with architects Jean Navarro and Stephanie Lavaux. R&Sie(n) uses an avatar and has adapted a number of name changes through the years. R&Sie(n) is currently interested in research titled "new-territories" which Roche discussed during the lecture. The research is interested in developing scripts through the studio [eIf/bʌt/c]. This research is centered around three topics: Research as Speculation, Fiction as Practice and Practice as Lifespan.
In addition to sharing thoughts from "new-territories" and work from R&Sie(n), Roche and Lacadee also showed a short film that is in development that mimics some of the ongoing research.
