A Federal-style brick house built in 1911 and last renovated in the '80s caught the eye of BAMO cofounder Michael Booth — an opportunity too big to resist. It was challenging for the entire project team to take an old house and bring it up to date while honoring the home's origins. First, there were some large tasks to tackle — enlarge the kitchen by bumping out the exterior wall, move the first-floor powder room, combine two bedrooms to create a primary suite — and add a full bath for proper guest quarters. A sense of the dramatic is transfused throughout the home — and enlarged door openings throughout the first floor lend a more open feel.
