Warehouscaping: Warehouse and Garage Transformation into Multifunctional Outdoor Workspaces

This unique architectural project, redesigned and transformed an area that used to serve only as an outdoor warehouse and garage into outdoor workspace complex. In situations with limited budgets, a major challenge is faced to maintain the basic functions as outdoor warehouse and garage while creating a comfortable, yet functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for the employees and owners who will use these areas.

Starting with a large outdoor shed and garage but not optimally utilized. These warehouses and garages are an exciting starting point for transforming into a more productive and inspiring environment. A limited budget is a major factor in planning this change, so the main focus is maximizing the use of existing elements and adding areas, combining the needs of workspaces, creative areas, and personal areas.

Integrated Multifunctional Design: One of the prominent elements in this project is the multifunctional approach implemented in the design. The outdoor warehouse and garage which originally only functioned as a storage and parking area for vehicles, were expanded into an outdoor workspace equipped with a workplace for employees, as well as a place for gathering, collaborating and looking for inspiration. There are specially designed buildings for owners and their families when they need to stay at work. The building contains a private living room, bedroom and private toilet, creating a comfortable and private space for the owners and their family.

Utilization of Open Space: The entire area except for the main building, is almost entirely open space. The table tennis area and gazebo provide a place for relaxation and exercise, providing a fun alternative for employees to unwind or start creative discussion sessions. These spaces are also protected from weather elements such as rain and sun.

Aesthetics and Finishing: The industrial design is the main aesthetic guide for this project. The use of plain concrete and lime wash cream color finish creates a rough but attractive appearance, conveying an industrial feel, retaining its initial impression as an industrial warehouse and garage. The use of these materials not only creates a consistent appearance but also maintains ties to the history of the warehouse's origins without spending a lot of money.

Warm and Comfortable Lighting: The wise choice of lighting is an important part of creating a comfortable and inspiring atmosphere. The lights with a color temperature of 3000 Kelvin provide a warm glow at night, creating a serene and warm atmosphere throughout. This allows employees to remain productive even at night when work piles up, as well as providing a comfortable place for owners to spend the night and relax.

Private Room Connected to Nature: Separate buildings for the owner and his family connected by a small but refreshing backyard. The bedroom is connected to a small backyard, creating a comfortable and healthy atmosphere for resting. The presence of trees and seats in the tiny backyard adds a dimension of cosiness, creating an ideal place for private conversations.
