This client's growth warranted moving into new 10,00 square feet of space with a new training room, small bistro and collaborative lounge. The goal was to strategically humanize the blank space with warm, earthy accent colors, live plants in containers, new artwork, signage and new furnishings and wall coverings for the Reception Area. The company's light grey and orange logo colors appear only in a new dimensional acrylic sign at the reception desk, in the leather on a new three-seater sofa and in the new porcelain floor tile in the Reception Area. Elsewhere, complements to orange are featured, such as striking, dark royal blue accent walls in an open workstation area and near the entry and a lush green on walls in a smaller conference room to foster collaboration. A variety of container plants, such as three new troughs with plants atop file cabinets, warm the spaces, emitting oxygen and enhancing air quality. Since the client provides consulting services to the auto dealership industry, the design concept for the Reception Area is that it convey the feeling of entering a luxury car interior. Leather, metal and a warm, Phillip Jeffries grasscloth wallpaper featuring faux metal rivets figure prominently. The art program's theme is: the automobile and its parts. Color photos commissioned by a well-known photographer of vintage car details will grace the new Bistro. An abstracted automobile art print will be featured above the Reception Area sofa. Other black and white photos and prints with the theme of "automobile" will be installed throughout the space. I designed a custom, wall-mounted walnut display cabinet for a long wall near the entry. Incorporating glass shelves and integrated LED spot lights, it will display the client's array of awards and trophies.
