This client's large, framed lace was a starting point for the design of a Belgian farmhouse-style apartment. It became a focal point in the re-vamped living room, which now features a floral linen-slipcovered wingback chair, slipcovered sofa, re-painted buffet, hutch and farm table and new richly patterned rug and glass-fronted bookcase. The focus was on comfort, textures and finishes with a slight patina. Reflective surfaces also helped to open up the space. The master bedroom is also being re-designed with new furniture that's softly upholstered or that features some of the curved lines seen in 19th-century Dutch interiors.
