The Ackerly at Reed's Crossing

This new senior living community is one of two Ankrom Moisan projects on
adjacent sites that serve as an anchor for a new neighborhood development in Hillsboro, OR. The building just southwest of this project is a wellness center, with a fitness pool that can be used by the residents, with a shared entry driveway. Part of the concept for this project in the new neighborhood of Reed's Crossing is that families who may work at Intel or Nike, nearby, can live closer to their parents and grandparents, and senior residents may be able to live closer to their grandchildren.

The building interior and exterior were intended to reflect Hillsboro's agrarian roots, while referencing Mt Hood, which can be viewed from the site, on the building cladding and form. The overall configuration of the building is a one-story memory care community with its own courtyard is directly next to a four-story AL/IL community, also with its own courtyard. Both communities are served with a shared spine with a commercial kitchen, staff spaces, and back of house spaces.

The units consist of 89 independent living units, 65 assisted living units, and a 28-bed memory care community with the built-in ability to more easily convert 45 of the independent living units to assisted living if needs change in the future.
