Upper Eastside Apartment Renovation: A Modern Transformation for Artful Living.
Politi Architecture transformed this one-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom apartment on the Upper Eastside into a sophisticated, light-filled space tailored to showcase the client’s extensive art collection. The renovation involved a comprehensive redesign, opening the foyer to the living room, updating both bathrooms, optimizing storage, and adding a convenient laundry closet—all designed with elegance and functionality in mind.
The renovation aimed to enhance the apartment’s natural light and create an open, inviting atmosphere. A neutral palette featuring white walls and wide plank white oak flooring was chosen to create a refined backdrop, allowing the vibrant art collection to add dynamic color throughout the space. The design thoughtfully combines mid-century furniture with an original Edwardian-style fireplace, creating a striking balance between classic charm and modern simplicity.
One standout feature of the renovation is the innovative knife-edge ceiling with LED lighting, directing attention to the artwork while accentuating the apartment’s exposed beams and soaring 11-foot ceilings. This feature, along with south-facing views, floods the rooms with natural light, enhancing the clean, airy aesthetic of this pre-war co-op.
The result is a seamless blend of contemporary design and timeless sophistication, transforming a traditionally laid-out Upper Eastside apartment into an artful haven with open, light-filled spaces that elevate everyday living.
