Inspired by the form of a Weaver bird’s nest, the Weaver Pod is located in the middle of Amazon forest on the bark of a Dinizia excelsa tree due to its enormous size and ability to hold weight. Its hydraulic mechanism allows a vertical movement which eases out the access to the pod from the ground level. The body of the wood machine is constructed out of the wood of the same tree making it a context friendly construction material . Its horizonal members act as a filter from letting excess sunlight entering the pod, preventing the pod from overheating(during the summer) and allowing just an adequate amount of light inside.
The layout is planned into two levels. The upper level involves recreational, cooking, working space and a toilet. The lower floor consists of a resting area in a slightly unconventional planning giving the user an ‘Into the Wild’ look and feel. The pod consists of an opening on the upper floor which allows the users to enjoy the open feel of the forest and allowing maximum view of the forest and the neighboring pods.
