This project converts a church into a 5200 sqft single-family home. Located on a busy corner in one of Detroit’s best preserved historic neighborhoods, this project sought to balance open and forward facing programs, like entertaining large groups, with the sheltered and welcoming needs of a family home. Seeking to retain the volume and character of the former church, the design places bedrooms on the first floor, allowing for a continuous multi functional space that extends through both levels of the home.
