The project proposal for the requalification and functional conversion of a building located in Via Mascagni in Rome, comes out from a study on the building that analyses the context in which it is positioned, its status and potentiality and takes into consideration the return on investment after the initiative. The inspiration for the project comes out from work like the “Maison de Verre” by Pierre Chareau and cross-reference to Italian rationalist architecture.
The final result has been formalised into a Light box, into a building able to transmit a lightness sensation in the surrounding dense urban texture.
One of the project themes is the double façade, expressed through the “two envelope system”, an external one able to control the light incoming, and an other internal for the room composition. The material used are glass-cement, glass and wood, integrated into a frame which regularises the old building outline.
