The project for the new library constitute an important element in the requalification decided by the authority. The scope is to create a modern and efficient building into the city. The project proposed by Goring & Straja Archictects has to be considered as a defined element into an undefined area. The area environment is characterized by low architectural quality buildings. These considerations highlight the need of a composed and measured building in its shape to earth and that effective complexity in its volumetric articulation: a more or less 100x100 meter rectangle with a wide window frame system on all its sides characterized from a apparently accidental course but that emphasize the sense of unitary of the inner space. In fact the new library of Arese is subdivided on 3 floors for a total surface of approximately 2.500 mq. The various floors are connected to each other toward the common entrance hall. The new Council conference room is located in the library and it is able to receive +/- 100 persons excluding the council members.The conference room endowed on double width with an independent entrance.
The two entrance are clearly highlighted by their appearance and they had to be considered like elements that are able to define the exterior light shape and volume of the library.
