The entire project on the urban part of Azenha do Mar aims to retrace an idea of modern village in order to throw out the abstract scene of a marginal place on the coast.
The south bay could become the best tourist area for Azenha do Mar considering the small beach fitted into the steep cliffs around it: this will be realized by an additional pedestrian path, on the beach there will be a brand new structure related to relaxing, water sports and wellness; it’s a wooden made one and it’s composed by several terraces with different heights.
Starting on the basic needs the new urban ideas will debate the decrease of vehicular roads, the use of urban voids to rebuilt a solid unity and comfortable public spaces, the realization of a brand new waterfront to create a system of open spaces, it will provide a range of commercial spaces to support the local economy and generate a luid tourist pole.
Moreover the pedestrian paths there are small courses within dwellings: the first ones will be the main junctions with the extremity of the village; the others, filled between parcels, will be preserved and used to create a more intimate relationship between citizens.
The project will model a new waterfront in order to encase all the squares next to the steep cliffs area.
In the North part of the waterfront there will be a structure for bike renting and an infopoint, next to this the scientific research centre, a brand new panoramic restaurant, the multipurpose centre and a terraces system as panoramic view spot.
The new civic centre is arranged with an entrance that could be used for citizens assemblies, events and others; behind this room there are a small library, two multifunctional rooms and a conference room with 200 chairs.
To solve the absolute lack of a commercial area, the project will provide shops for basic needs behind the fishing shop, moreover there will be a bar and a post office on the ground of the apartments building.
The North-East area will be transformed into a touristic and wellness facility. The touristic pole will hold two functional elements: the residence and the services building. The services structure is composed by the hall and the restaurant and the upper floor with the administration; around the building there will be several relaxing green areas and an outdoor swimming pool.
The project will provide 24 new dwellings divided in 2 different typologies, so there will be 20 detached houses and a building with 4 apartment. Detached houses has a longitudinal enhance of the function path, with one or two storeys and a fluid distribution of living spaces.
