Ramp-Scapes

 Ramp-Scapes

Ramp-Scapes are proposals for large public functional art structures, designed to provide special places on and around which, handicapped and non-handicapped people can gather together in a positive way to exercise. This painted wood Ramp-Scape is made from a series of modular components that consist of ramps and landings. The ramps and landings are designed in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines. Each of these components is supported with a series of vertical columns that maintain the proper length to slope ratio of each of the ramps, throughout the entire structure. The ramps and landings can vary in size and can be assembled into many different kinds of configurations to accommodate different site-specific requirements. Even though this Ramp-Scape is designed to be made of painted wood, other materials can be used including steel and concrete.

Ramp-Scapes are designed to celebrate the act of exercising outdoors and are intended to encourage the integration of handicapped and non-handicapped people.

The Ramp-Scapes strives to inspire people of all ages to interact with the structures by climbing up, down, and through their complex maze like formations, and as a result, become more physically fit.

The structures are designed to be installed in many different kinds of places such as public parks, schools, and/or corporate campuses.
