Anomalies 2

Anomalies 2

Anomalies 2 are a series of digitally manipulated photomontages that were created to inspire stories in the minds of the viewers about what these things are and how they got where they appear to be. The intent was to create images that have never been seen before in order to suggest stories that have never been told before.

The uniqueness of these photomontages comes from the fact that the primary objects in the montages were created from my unique three dimensional architectural models and sculptures, which no one else has access to but me. Also the process of manipulating the original images of my objects was not based on preconceived notions of a specific outcome. I purposely allowed the process of manipulation to evolve with as little conscience direction as possible from me. In this way, the final photomontages grew uninhibited into totally unexpected forms of art.

This was accomplished through a unique process of image making. The primary objects in the photomontages were created from altered photos of some of my three-dimensional architectural models, and sculptures. These objects were first photographed with a digital camera. They were then isolated from their original backgrounds in my computer. The isolated images were often manipulated in various ways in the computer in order to form completely new objects. This manipulation often involved cutting the original object up into pieces and reassembling those pieces back together again, often into a symmetrical configuration. In addition, the manipulated objects were often placed through the computer into real and/or manipulated landscapes, along with sometimes altered images of people and animals.
