The East Austin Boutique Hotel was designed to be an escape from
everyday life and its stresses. Located at the intersection of Manor Road
and Coleto Street, this area features multiple restaurants. The
architecture of this hotel engages the visitors to explore what is outside
of the building to help them interact with its surroundings. The hotel
features a small building footprint and two stories of guest rooms that
allow for the visitors to experience East Austin before entering their room,
and the separate building serves as a lobby/lounge area. With the
existing trees being preserved and the addition of wooden decks, the
East Austin Boutique Hotel is the place that will allow for anyone to
escape everyday life while being surrounded by the landscape.
The way that the program was laid out allows for the visitors to engage
with the landscape. As one enters from Coleto Street, one is greeted
with the lobby and lounge on the left, and the pool on the right. After
checking in, one can go towards the main building by following the
path that leads to the restaurant and bar. Towards the back of the
restaurant is the staircase that leads to the guest rooms. The second
floor has 10 single sized rooms, and the third floor has 6 single sized rooms
and 2 double sized rooms to help show the hierarchy of space. Both
floors of guest rooms feature a balcony that allows for the visitors to view
the activities outside. The exterior walls on the east include glass walls
that allow for the guests in the restaurant to view the activities outside,
and the glass walls for the bedrooms feature frosted glass for privacy
reasons.
