› Plant offers an artistic alternative to the rough concrete exhaust tower for Pragues major urban and traffic project - Tunnel Blanka. The aim was to work with nature-like principles of growth to create a unique art-nature-architecture solution. Therefore an application for generating L-system patterns has been adapted and used to develop the towers fluted body, crown and pergola.
› Periodicity and symmetry found in the zoomorphic pattern initiated the idea to create a single segment used as a repetitive/mirrored component to build up the main body of the tower . This simplicity of repeating body parts is beneficial in at least two ways, an easy assembly on-site and lowering of manufacture costs.
› Construction consists of aluminium stripes and body sheets. The stripes form upper crown of Plant and the pergola structure in parterre. The body sheets are cast into a milled mould, with no surface finish.
