THIS PROJECT EXPLORES THE REACTION OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT TO RISING SEA LEVELS (in relation to coastal cities) AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF INACTIVITY IN THE FACE OF GLOBAL WARMING. THIS SCENARIO, WHICH TAKES PLACE IN THE ‘NOT TOO DISTANT’ FUTURE, WOULD ACT AS A CATALYST FOR DESIGNING SUSTAINABLE AND ECONOMICAL PROTOTYPES FOR ALL CITIES. BY REMOVING THE EXISTING URBAN CONTEXT, WE ARE FORCED TO REASSEMBLE ALL OF THE ATTRIBUTES OF A SUCCESSFUL CITY INTO A SINGLE, VERTICAL CONDITION. THE DESIGN INTENT IS TO CREATE A SPACE FRAME LIKE TOWER WHOSE FLEXIBILITY ALLOW FOR A COLLAGE OF INTEGRATED PROGRAMS, GREEN SPACES, NEW LIVING CONDITIONS, AND A UNIQUE CIRCULATION SYSTEM. THE TOWER’S APPEARANCE IS A REACTION OF THE FLIPPING THE NECESSARY SPACES THAT MAKE UP A CITY INTO THE TOWER.
